Triton hopes third time isn't the charm for Shawnee

It's often been said that beating a team three times in a season is among the most difficult tasks in sports. Triton girls' soccer coach Holly O'Donnell can only hope that is true.

Tomorrow at noon, Triton visits Shawnee in a South Jersey Group 4 quarterfinal.

This will be the third meeting between the two. Shawnee won both times, 3-2 and 3-1.

"It's so hard to beat a team three times, and I am telling our girls if we play the way we know how to play, it will be a great match," O'Donnell said.

One person who will draw plenty of attention is Triton senior central midfielder Anna Dolhansky. A La Salle recruit, Dolhansky has 21 goals and nine assists this season.

"She has been an incredible all-around player, she is really smart, and her level of skill is one of the best I've seen," O'Donnell said.

In addition to the anticipated Lenape-Washington Township Group 4 girls' quarterfinal, the other two Group 4 quarterfinals have No. 5-seeded Mainland at No. 4 seed Clearview and No. 6-seeded Eastern at No. 3 Williamstown.

Both games are tomorrow at 2.

Eastern will have to shut down Williamstown's Briana Molino, one of the area's top clutch scorers with 24 goals.

Another third meeting

When fifth-seeded Cherry Hill East faces fourth-seeded Lenape in Friday's South Jersey Group 4 boys' quarterfinal, it will be the third meeting between the teams. East won both regular-season meetings over Lenape, 2-1, and 3-1.

Those wins were a major reason East won the Olympic Conference American Division title for the first time in 11 seasons.

Flu bug

On Friday at 2 p.m., fifth-seeded Haddon Heights visits No. 4 seed Haddon Township in what should be a highly competitive South Jersey Group 2 boys' quarterfinal between Colonial Conference teams.

Haddon Township hopes to be healthy. Coach Jim Bonder said that six players have been out with the flu. Bonder also has had a bout with the flu.

"I think we're near the tail end of it and hope everybody is ready on Friday," Bonder said.

Heights scored a 2-1 regular season win over the Hawks on Oct. 9.
