Fertell scored both of Westtown's goals in the second half. By the time she scored her second, though, the unbeaten Gators (15-0) had a 4-1 lead.

Shipley got a first-half goal from junior forward Ellie Andersen and its fourth goal from a sophomore, Ilana Wolfson. Anderson also added an assist, her seventh of the season.

In between, Allison Dombroski and Kathleen Kneizys scored. It was Dombroski's sixth goal of the year.

Shipley won its fourth title in the last five years and goalie Lily Turchi was there for three of them. She turned away nine of the 11 shots she faced.

Tri-County. Michelle Cocchimiglio scored four goals, including the game-tying one with four minutes left in regulation and the game-winner in overtime, to lead host West-Mont Christian past Kimberton Waldorf, 5-4, in the league title game.

The teams came into the game having split their regular-season encounters.

Kimberton Waldorf won the first game, 6-2, and dropped the second, 5-2.

Kimberton Waldorf led, 4-2, before Cocchimiglio scored both second-half goals to tie it, and her game-winner came on a rebound of her own shot in the second overtime.

Tessa Mulders also scored for the Cougars (9-1-1), who won the first league title for sixth-year coach Melissa Snyder.

District 1 Class AA. At Plymouth Whitemarsh, Kerri Crumlish scored both goals for Sacred Heart in a 2-0 semifinal win over Upper Perkiomen. Both goals were scored within a span of six minutes, and one was assisted by Erin Rush.

Taylor Brady had 10 saves for the Lions (12-8-1).

Sacred Heart advances to the title game against fellow Association of Catholic Academies member Villa Maria on Saturday.

Villa Maria earned its spot in the title tilt with a 6-1 semifinal win over Springfield (Montgomery County).

Inter-Ac. Senior midfielder Kelsey Gula had two goals and an assist for host Episcopal Academy in a 4-0 win over Baldwin.

Avery Curley added a goal and an assist, and Kacey Hirtle also scored for the Churchwomen (9-4-1 overall, 6-0-1 league).

Katie Gerzabek scored four goals and Meredith Morris added two more as host Notre Dame rolled to a 9-0 win over Springside.

The Irish (16-1-1, 9-0-1) led, 5-0, at the half and also got single goals from Bree Buysse, Maura McKendrick and Jackie Spoerl. McKendrick, Morris, and Buysse each contributed a pair of assists. Emily Fuss had to make only three saves in goal for the Notre Dame shutout.

Ali Rosen scored five minutes into the game to give Penn Charter a 1-0 win over visiting Agnes Irwin.

Volleyball

In another quarterfinal, No. 10 St. Basil used 18 kills from Mary Ellen Paul in a 13-25, 25-18, 25-23, 25-21 upset win at second-seeded Upper Merion. Colleen Fedorowicz added 15 kills.

District 1 Class AA. In a semifinal match at Norristown, Merion Mercy coasted to a 25-6, 25-12, 25-16 win over fellow Catholic Academies member Gwynedd-Mercy.

The Golden Bears advanced to a district championship date against either St. Pius X or Sun Valley tomorrow at a location to be determined.

Soccer

Freshman Haley Curtin had four saves to post her second-straight shutout for Notre Dame in a 2-0 win over visiting Springside. Sophomore Carlianne McCabe's first goal of the season turned out to be the game-winner for the Irish (10-6-1, 4-4-1 league). Alex Ambrogi added a pair of assists, one on a goal by Kristen Bandos.

Kristen Hinckley's second-half goal helped Episcopal Academy down visiting Baldwin, 1-0.

Hinckley, a freshman, was assisted by midfielder Ashley McCormack in the game's 79th minute. Goalie Kristen Robinson had eight saves for her eighth-straight shutout.
