Chris Widger among baseball inductees
Former Pennsville catcher Chris Widger, a member of the 2005 Chicago White Sox' World Series championship team, is one of eight people who will be inducted into the South Jersey Baseball Hall of Fame.
The induction is part of the Hot Stover Baseball Club of South Jersey's 49th annual awards banquet. It is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Nov. 29 at Masso's Columbus Manor in Williamstown.
Joining Widger are former all-South Jersey players Dan Severino (Audubon), Mike Moriarty (Bishop Eustace), Mark Freed (Pennsville), and Mike Campo (St. Augustine).
Elwood "Woody" Graham, a former standout at Atlantic City who graduated in 1947, will be honored posthumously.
Also being inducted are former Cherry Hill East coach Dave Martin, who guided the Cougars to nine conference titles in 32 years, and South Jersey baseball contributor Dave Townsend.
The Hot Stovers club will also honor its 2008 high school all-star team, South Jersey coach of the year, and American Legion most valuable player, as well as award five scholarships.
