Strath Haven's Tessa Lyons
Tessa Lyons is the No. 1 player on the Strath Haven girls' tennis team. The 16-year-old junior is also the two-time Central League champion.
Lyons will defend her PIAA District 1 Class AAA singles title when she faces Radnor's Lauren Bridges on Oct. 22.
Question: What do you like most about playing tennis?
Answer: Competing and getting better.
Q: How long have you been playing tennis?
A: Since I was 4.
Q: Have you always been Strath Haven's No. 1 player?
A: I was my freshman year, my sophomore and then again now.
Q: What's the best thing about playing for Strath Haven?
A: I just like being on the team. It's a lot of fun. And I get to play a team sport for the school.
Q: Who is your biggest rival?
A: Lauren Bridges from Radnor.
Q: Is it a friendly rivalry?
A: Yes. She's one of my really good friends.
Q: What's your favorite food?
A: Ravioli.
Q: What kind of music do you listen to?
A: I listen to a lot of stuff. I really like Rhianna, Beyonce, Kanye West and Lil Wayne.
Q: What do you like to do when you're not playing tennis?
A: I like to be with my friends, hanging out, driving around. Sometimes we take the train to the city and go to Chinatown.
