Surgery for Nelson
Jameer Nelson will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee today to repair torn cartilage, the Orlando Magic said. The all-star point guard is expected to miss four to six weeks.
The former St. Joseph's star was injured in the fourth quarter of Monday night's win against Charlotte.
This is the second straight season in which Nelson has been sidelined. He suffered a torn labrum in his right shoulder in February and had surgery.
Nelson is averaging 13.7 points and 5.5 assists.
Brown lauds Iverson
Charlotte Bobcats coach Larry Brown was adamant that Allen Iverson should not retire now that he has been officially waived by the Memphis Grizzlies.
"We need him in our game," said Brown, who occasionally clashed with Iverson while coaching the 76ers.
Brown, who brings the Bobcats into the Wachovia Center tonight, said he spoke with Iverson's agent Leon Rose and exchanged texts with Iverson this week.
The only team thought to have interest in the former MVP is the New York Knicks.
