College Basketball: Blue Devils rout Charlotte, 101-59

Nolan Smith scored 24 points in his return to Duke's lineup, and ninth-ranked Duke routed Charlotte, 101-59, last night in the second round of the NIT Season Tip-Off in Durham, N.C.

Jon Scheyer added 20 points and Kyle Singler had 17 for the Blue Devils, who never trailed, hit 12 three-pointers and shot 52.9 percent.

Kansas 57, Memphis 55 - In St. Louis, the top-ranked Jayhawks held off an upset bid by the unranked Tigers as Cole Aldrich had 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Memphis' Elliot Williams (21 points) missed a three-pointer with two seconds left.

Michigan State 75, Gonzaga 71 - Durrell Summers hit a go-ahead three-pointer with 3:02 left, made two at the line with 5.7 seconds to go, and finished with 21 points to help the No. 2 Spartans rally over the Bulldogs in East Lansing, Mich.

Elsewhere: Jerome Dyson scored 23 points, and No. 12 Connecticut rallied for a 77-67 victory over Hofstra in the second round of the NIT Season Tip-Off in Storrs, Conn. . . . Scotty Hopson scored a career-high 25 points, and No. 10 Tenessee routed UNC-Asheville, 124-49, in Knoxville, Tenn. . . . Willie Warren scored 24 points, Tony Crocker added 13, and No. 17 Oklahoma notched the 1,500th win in the program's history by beating Louisiana-Monroe, 72-61, at home in Norman. . . . Reginald Delk scored 20 points in a reserve role and sparked key surges in both halves, helping No. 20 Louisville open with a 96-66 victory over depleted Arkansas in the Hall of Fame Showcase in St. Louis.

No. 25 Maryland beat Fairfield, 71-42, in College Park, Md. . . . Brandon Paul scored 20 points in the first half, leading No. 23 Illinois to an 80-61 victory over Northern Illinois in Champaign, Ill. . . . David Potter scored 17 points and hit five of Clemson's 10 three-pointers as the No. 22 Tigers routed Liberty, 79-39, in Lynchburg, Va.

Ralph Hegamin scored 21 points to lead West Chester to a 77-52 win over visiting University of the Sciences. . . . Steve Secula's 21 points led Rowan to a 73-58 win over visiting Arcadia.

Women

Temple 66, Auburn 52 - Shaqwedia Wallace scored 19 points to lead the Owls over the visiting Tigers. Kristen McCarthy added 10 points, and Natasha Thames had 10 rebounds to go with nine points.
