Okla. St. seeking return of Bryant
The school put the all-American on the sideline last Wednesday for lying to the NCAA about his relationship with former NFL star Deion Sanders. Bryant sat out Saturday as No. 16 Oklahoma State won, 36-31, at Texas A&M.
The Cowboys (4-1, 1-0 Big Twelve) will host Missouri (4-1, 0-1) this Saturday.
Bryant played in Oklahoma State's first three games this season while compliance officials were investigating his meeting with Sanders and another former NFL player, Omar Stoutmire, that Bryant later lied about to the NCAA.
Sanders said Sunday on the NFL Network that his longtime agent, Eugene Parker, was not present for his meeting with Bryant. Sanders also said he did not give Bryant any gifts and portrayed his relationship with the receiver as one of mentoring.
'Nova now sixth. Villanova dropped four spots yesterday to No. 6 in the Sports Network's Football Championships Subdivision poll.
The Wildcats (5-1) slipped after Saturday's 28-24 setback to No. 4 New Hampshire.
Owls junior honored. Temple defensive back Jaiquawn Jarrett was named the Mid-American Conference defensive player of the week in the East Division. He had nine tackles, two interceptions, and a fumble recovery in a 24-19 win over Ball State.
Devlin's hot. Delaware quarterback Pat Devlin earned his second straight offensive player of the week honor from the Colonial Athletic Association. The Downingtown native passed for four TDs as the Blue Hens beat Massachusetts, 43-27, on Saturday.
Noteworthy. Florida QB Tim Tebow said doctors are still doing post-concussion evaluations. He expects to play Saturday against Arkansas. . . . Police in Union City, Tenn., said 18-year-old Southern Mississippi punter Peter Wilkes committed suicide. He died Saturday of a gunshot wound.
