Murphy is Penn lacrosse coach
Mike Murphy finds himself in familiar territory now that he's been named the men's lacrosse coach at Penn. The former coach at Haverford College for the last seven seasons served as an assistant coach for the Quakers in 2001 and 2002.

"I am ecstatic to return as the head coach," said Murphy, whose predecessor, Brian Voelker, moved to Drexel. "This is a great opportunity for me professionally."
Murphy, a graduate of Duke, where he was a three-year starter, has also served as an assistant at Virginia and Brown. Last season, Haverford finished with a 13-4 record, captured its first Centennial Conference championship, and reached the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs before bowing to Salisbury.
The Quakers were 5-8 overall, 2-4 in the Ivy League last season. Their last winning season was in 2006, when they finished 10-4, 4-2 and reached the NCAA playoffs.
