Savery wins 10th as Reading rolls

TRENTON - Joe Savery raised his record to 10-1 yesterday afternoon by allowing only two hits in six shutout innings as the Reading Phillies clubbed the Trenton Thunder, 12-2, in the Eastern League.

The Phillies selected the lefthander in the first round of the 2007 draft out of Rice University.

Reading racked up two five-run innings to back Savery, whose 10 wins lead the Eastern League. Third baseman Neil Sellers was 2 for 3 with four RBIs.

Trenton's Chris Malec had four hits, including a two-run homer in the ninth.

ALLENTOWN - Melvin Dorta ripped a two-out grand slam in the fifth to lead the Tides past the IronPigs in the International League.

Delmarva 13, Lakewood 9

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - Joe Mahoney drove in three runs to lead the Shorebirds past the BlueClaws in the South Atlantic League.
