Burns and Rogers winners in Phila. Triathlon Sprint
Burns finished the combination swimming (0.9 kilometers), cycling (24K) and running (5K) event in 1 hour, 9 minutes, 47 seconds. Rogers' time was 1:20:45.
Matt Miller, 20, of St. Davids finished first in his age group and sixth overall. It was his first triathlon since a near-fatal accident in November on the Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia.
Jim Gosser, 29, a Neshaminy High science teacher, finished his first triathlon in 1:42:10, placing 61st in his age group. Gosser had come back from a slip-and-fall accident in Old City 28 months ago that almost cost him the use of his legs.
The Olympic distance race is today, starting at 6:55 a.m.
