3 games on tap to open Carpenter Cup

The 24th annual Carpenter Cup high school all-star baseball tournament begins today with a tripleheader at the University of Pennsylvania's Meiklejohn Stadium.

The semifinals of the 16-team, single-elimination tournament will be June 23 at Citizens Bank Park. The final is set for June 24 at the same site.

The Suburban One National/Bicentennial League all-stars are the defending champions.

Today's schedule has South Jersey's Olympic/Colonial meeting the Suburban One American/Continental at 9 a.m.

The second game at 12:30 p.m. pits South Jersey's Tri-Cape against Delaware North. At 4 p.m., the Philadelphia Public League plays Jersey Shore. - Marc Narducci
