Minor Leagues: Shutout gives IronPigs a split
ALLENTOWN - Les Walrond pitched a four-hit shutout in the second game yesterday as the Lehigh Valley IronPigs split an International League doubleheader with the Durham Bulls.
Walrond struck out seven in the seven-inning game, a 2-0 victory.
Eric Johnson was 5 for 5 and scored twice in Durham's 6-5 win in the opener, which completed Wednesday's suspended game. Jason Jaramillo was 3 for 4 with a home run for the IronPigs.
Reading 7, New Britain 3
NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - Fabio Castro gave up two runs and five hits in seven innings as the Phillies beat the Rock Cats in the Eastern League.
The lefthander retired the last 12 hitters he faced, and walked one and struck out five.
Brad Harman slugged a three-run homer for the Phillies in the fourth.
