Iannucci leads Wings to comeback win

TORONTO - The playoff-bound Wings ended the regular season yesterday by edging the Toronto Rock, 15-14, as Athan Iannucci scored a shorthanded goal with 44 seconds left in the National Lacrosse League contest.

The Rock (7-9) had overcome an early 8-2 deficit to tie the score at 14-14.

The Wings (10-6) will open the Champion's Cup playoffs Friday night at 7:30 against the Bandits (10-6) in Buffalo.

All four East playoff teams, including Minnesota and New York, finished 10-6.

Iannucci finished with 71 goals, 10 more than Gary Gait's previous single-season record for the Wings.

Jason Crosbie had a pair of goals and two assists for the Wings. Jamie Rooney and A.J. Shannon each scored two goals, while Jake Bergey, Merrick Thomson, Pat Heim, David Mitchell and Rob Van Beek each scored one.

Wings goalie Rob Blasdell had 30 saves in the first half before Brandon Miller finished up with 29 saves in the second.
