NBA: Jason Kidd is focus of trade talk

MINNEAPOLIS - Jason Kidd is unhappy and wants to be traded to a contender. The Nets may grant him his wish.

A league source said the Nets were exploring all options to move the point guard.

One scenario has Kidd returning to Dallas, where he started his career, and would include another team. The Nets would get Devean George, DeSagana Diop and draft picks.

The Mavericks, Lakers, Nuggets and Cavaliers have the most interest in Kidd, who wouldn't mind returning to the West.

The Nets also are gauging the interest level in Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson.

"At the end of the day I would be surprised if he wasn't moved," said one Eastern Conference official. "Of Kidd, Carter and Jefferson, Kidd's the easiest one to move."

Webber to Warriors. More than 13 years after Chris Webber demanded to leave the Golden State Warriors, the free-agent forward and former Sixer is set to return.

Webber confirmed he will rejoin the Warriors and coach Don Nelson, who won a power struggle with the former No. 1 draft pick in their messy first stint with the franchise.

The five-time all-star is expected to be with the Warriors when they visit Houston tonight, though it's uncertain whether he'll play.

Nelson apparently masterminded the Warriors' decision to re-sign Webber, who hasn't played in the NBA this season, as a backup big man and offensive playmaker.

Last night's games

Hornets 117, Nuggets 93

NEW ORLEANS - Chris Paul had 23 points, 17 assists, and nine rebounds, and New Orleans ran away from Denver for its ninth-straight win.

A jubilant crowd broke into repeated chants of "M-V-P" in recognition of a masterful performance by the Hornets guard, who is New Orleans' best shot at making the All-Star Game here next month.

Jazz 97, Spurs 91

SALT LAKE CITY - Carlos Boozer and Andrei Kirilenko scored 23 points each and Utah won their fifth straight game, beating San Antonio with physical play.

The Spurs had 20 turnovers as the Jazz controlled the team that dominated them in the Western Conference finals last season.

Mavericks 103, Grizzlies 84

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Josh Howard hit his first eight shots on the way to 26 points, and Dallas shot 54 percent to beat Memphis. The Grizzlies never threatened.
