Women's Basketball | Villanova wallops Penn at Pavilion
The Quakers' point total was their lowest since 1973. Villanova had not held a team under 30 points since a game against Rider in 1987.
The Wildcats (6-1, 2-0 Big Five) led by as many as 45 points (62-17). Their leading scorer was Stacie Witman, who had 22 points and also contributed nine rebounds.
Lisa Karcic added 17 points.
The top scorers for Penn (3-4, 0-2 Big Five) were Carrie Biemer and reserve Amy Donovan, with eight points each. Other than Biemer, Penn's starters shot a combined 1 for 21 from the floor.
St. Joseph's 65, Manhattan 58 - Timisha Gomez led the way with 17 points as the Hawks (4-2) toppled the Jaspers at the Brown Basketball Classic in Providence, R.I.
The Hawks, who hit 9 of 18 three-point attempts, will play Brown (1-7) this afternoon.
Binghamton 71, La Salle 61 - Despite 23 points from Carlene Hightower, the Explorers (3-4) fell to the Bearcats (1-5) in Binghamton, N.Y.
Laine Kurpniece led Binghamton by shooting 9 of 10 from the floor for 20 points.
Holy Family 78, University of the Sciences 58 - Christine McCollum and Kelly Killion each scored 17 points to lead the Tigers (5-0) at USP (1-5) in Philadelphia. Erin Chesnavich and Colleen Christian had 14 points for the Devils.
West Chester 71, Slippery Rock 53 - Catherine Andrews and Katie Kline each scored 16 points to lead the Golden Rams (5-0) past the visiting Rock (3-2).
Rutgers-Camden 71, Brooklyn 62 - Carmen Oyola and Karima Blackwell both posted double-doubles as the Raptors (3-3) defeated their New York hosts, the Bridges (2-3).
California (Pa.) 92, Cheyney 47 - Leslie Miranda scored 10 points but the Wolves (0-3) fell to the Vulcans (4-2) in California, Pa.
Delaware Valley 88, Keystone 68 - Moira Donohue's 22 points paced the Aggies (2-3) past the Giants (0-4) in La Plume, Pa.
