The PhillyDeals column Friday about Alan Markovitz and his strip clubs is embarrassing. To devote more than half of the column to this sleaze merchant is an embarrassment to the Philadelphia business community, the people of the region, and, should be, to The Inquirer.
Do not get me wrong. I am not a religious zealot or right-wing extremist. Although I personally do not patronize these types of establishments, I recognize their right to exist.
However, it seems to me that the Philadelphia region offers enough upstanding, thriving, and interesting commercial endeavors that your columnist could find ample content that not only educates the reader but enhances the reputation of the community.
Reporting on a string of distasteful, lewd strip joints reflects poorly on our community and is of little interest to the vast majority of readers. What's next, porn shops?
