A certified public accountant, Mr. Sprecher worked in corporate finance as an auditor in mergers and acquisitions and as chief financial officer of several companies. He was currently with SNC Companies of Georgetown in Washington, a diversified government contractor. He maintained homes in Skippack and in Browntown, Va., and spent a great deal of time in Puerto Rico, where SNC has a military protective gear manufacturing plant, his daughter Krista Snyder said.
Mr. Sprecher graduated from Neshaminy High School and earned a bachelor's degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
During the Vietnam War, he served in the Army Quartermaster Corps and completed a tour of duty in Vietnam. After his discharge in 1968 as a captain, he was an accountant with Coopers & Lybrand in Philadelphia. He later worked for Conrail in Washington; for the Hay Group in Philadelphia; and for Columbus Group in Arlington, Va. He traveled on business around the world, his daughter said.
Mr. Sprecher was a Civil War buff and supported Civil War battlefield preservation.
In addition to his daughter, he is survived by his wife of 34 years, Dianna Kahle Sprecher; daughter Allie McCarraher; a son, Wessel III; a granddaughter; and his former wife, Helen M. Burke.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Craft Funeral Home, 814 Bethlehem Pike, Erdenheim. Friends may call from 10 a.m. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Roslyn.
