Norma Brower | Claims adjuster, 54
Norma Lynn Wilson Brower, 54, of Abington, an insurance claims adjuster for 25 years, died of respiratory failure June 21 at Abington Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Brower was born in the Mount Airy section of Philadelphia. She graduated with honors from Philadelphia High School for Girls in 1972, and Pennsylvania State University in 1975, completing course work for prelaw in three years.
Mrs. Brower met Etzel Coffee Brower Sr. during her first week at Penn State, and married him after she graduated. The couple moved to Swedesboro, where children Jennifer and Etzel Jr. were born.
The family moved to East Mount Airy, and later to Abington; the Browers lived there for 15 years. Mrs. Brower was diagnosed with lupus in 1988 but continued to lead an active life.
Mrs. Brower worked as a claims adjuster at Prudential Insurance Co., which became Liberty Mutual Insurance Co., in Horsham, for a combined 25 years, ending three weeks ago, when she lost the ability to walk.
Mrs. Brower and her husband divorced in the early 1990s.
She was active at Summit Presbyterian Church in West Mount Airy, where she taught Sunday school, and later at Salem Baptist Church of Jenkintown. She also sang in the Bright Hope Celestial Choir based at Bright Hope Baptist Church in North Philadelphia.
Mrs. Brower enjoyed attending Broadway shows with her family.
Surviving, in addition to her former husband and two children, are her mother, Beulah T. Wilson; father, Lyttington D. Wilson; a brother; and a grandson.
Services were yesterday at Bright Hope Church. Mrs. Brower was cremated; her ashes will be scattered later at the Jersey Shore, where she vacationed.
