The HMS Augusta
Students in Drexel University's Digital Media program have begun recreating exact 3D replicas of colonial era structures for use in educational programs.
The HMS Augusta was a 64 gun ship that was scuttled by its own crew after running aground. The ship has been rebuilt from period shipwright sketches, references to sister ships built and designed around the same time period. The ship in the fly-by is what is referred to as a clay model, untextured and simply lit to display detail and form. The ship was modeled by Brian Gadomski, the sails animated by Matthew Smith, and lighting by Chester Cunanan.
