Philly's Graffiti Milestone

Forty years ago, Darryl “Cornbread” McCray started writing his name on Philadelphia walls simply for recognition. He became, it is argued, the first modern graffiti writer in the world. Today, young graffiti writers seek the same recognition and street credibility, with some displaying true artistic talent. “BOB” is a graduate student who paints a character by the same name. “CURVE” is a college graduate who paints elaborate, mural-like “pieces.”
