Kuame, 15, likes friends, sports

Inquisitive and fun-loving, Kuame, 15, is friendly and loves to socialize. He enjoys being the center of attention and receiving affection. His social worker says he is a joy to be around.

Kuame's favorite pastimes are playing video games, drawing Spider-man and other characters, and spending time at the mall with his friends.

Kuame has been diagnosed with autism. Although he is nonverbal, he is considered to be very bright and communicates by writing on a notepad or using the application on his laptop that speaks the words he types.

Ambulatory, he enjoys physical activities and playing sports. When he grows up, he would like to be a football player. Kuame is very self-sufficient and is able to perform daily living tasks independently.

Enrolled in the 10th grade, Kuame receives special-education services and is doing well, despite learning and developmental disabilities. He gets along well with his classmates and teachers and is known for his sense of humor.

Kuame needs a loving family that will advocate for his educational and medical needs and will provide the patience, support, and nurturing he needs to reach his full potential. He is eligible for financial subsidy.

Kuame and other children are available for adoption by approved applicants. For more information, contact the National Adoption Center, 1500 Walnut St., Suite 701, Philadelphia 19102. Call 215-735-9988, or visit www.adopt.org.
