A boy who loves to explore
Antonio, 13, loves to explore things. He also enjoys drawing, solving puzzles, playing video games, and engaging in sports, including baseball and soccer. Although he is a bit reserved when meeting someone for the first time, he soon warms up, especially if the conversation is about sports.
In the eighth grade, Antonio benefits from special-education classes and earns mostly A's and B's. He likes science and gym classes and any activity that involves crafting things by hand.
When he grows up, Antonio plans on being a firefighter so he can help people. Recently, he had a preview of his future career when he visited the Philadelphia Fire Department, Engine 41, Ladder 24 and Medic 23. After suiting up, he learned about the engine, how the water works, and what type of calls firefighters respond to.
Antonio yearns to have a "forever" family, with a mom, a dad, and some siblings. A supportive, caring, and active family would go a long way in helping this teenager reach his potential. Close to his siblings, he should remain in touch with them. He is eligible for financial subsidy.
Antonio and other children are available for adoption by approved applicants. For a free information packet, contact the National Adoption Center, 1500 Walnut St., Suite 701, Philadelphia 19102. Call 215-735-9988, or visit the Web site at www.adopt.org.
