Inqlings: A talented bounty of roaches
Brat contracted with the Insectarium in Northeast Philly to breed 1,000 cockroaches for the production, but nature worked its course and the Brat team received about 4,000 of 'em. After the show, they will not be squished underfoot but trucked back to the Insectarium.
Brat also has a container of Madagascar hissing cockroaches. In an artistic twist, Isaiah Zagar of the Magic Gardens and Distefano's sister, Stefanie Distefano, will attend the opening to paint and sell them. Supposedly they make great pets.
Arthur Kade is going places?
Entertainment powerhouse IMG Media says it is developing a reality-TV project based on the life of Center City's Arthur Kade, who's become a Web pariah as a boorish self-promoter hell-bent on achieving fame. (Is it an act or for real?) Kade and IMG declined to elaborate.
Backstage notes
Why Saturday's Maxwell show at the Wachovia Spectrum was delayed: His driver was stuck in traffic on northbound I-95. After a few phone calls, police were dispatched to the van and escorted him in. Across the parking lot at the Wachovia Center, the Doylestown-bred Pink turned red after dancing provocatively during a cover of "I Touch Myself," the Divinyls hit. "Wow," she marveled. "Really weird doing that in front of my parents." The 76ers gave personalized commemorative jerseys to Pink and Maxwell, and both autographed them. They'll go up for sale today on Sixers.com, with proceeds benefiting Sixers Charities and the Comcast-Spectacor Foundation.WMGK-FM (102.9) morning man John DeBella will talk up the Phillies and trash the Colorado Rockies (as Denver DJ Colfax of KRFX provides the counterargument) in a teaser to be shown before tomorrow's National League Division Series opener on TBS.
Auditions for NBC's America's Got Talent will be held Oct. 25 and 26 at the Convention Center. Info: www.agtauditions.com.
