Outgoing, adventurous, happy

Very outgoing and expressive, Raheem, 8, has a passion for adventure and is curious about the world around him. A happy child, he gets along well with others and follows the rules when they are explained to him. He understands the consequences of his actions and responds well to rewards.

When Raheem grows up, he wants to be a police officer. In the meantime, he is busy with a variety of interests. He enjoys playing with toy trains and trucks, watching movies, playing basketball and video games, engaging in outdoor activities, and doing puzzles. He also finds time to take gymnastic lessons. In school, he benefits from special-education classes.

Raheem has endured many disappointments and losses, resulting in behavioral and emotional challenges. He needs what all children need - the freedom to grow, to give and receive love, and to feel that he belongs. He needs a stable, loving family that is patient, nurturing, and willing to make a lifelong commitment to him. Raheem is very close to his brother, Laquan, 10 (profiled last week), and it is important that they be adopted together. They are eligible for financial subsidy.

These siblings and other children are available for adoption by approved applicants.
