Inqlings: Hamelses moving on up
Hamels and his wife, Heidi Strobel, are about to settle on a three-bedroom, 31/2-bathroom condo, a 2,700-square-footer way up in Two Liberty Place.
Steve Calandrino, who handles sales for the Center City skyscraper's residences, said the Hamelses hoped to move from their modest West Chester townhouse before spring training. Hamels also has a condo in San Diego, according to public records.
Calandrino declined to disclose the sale price or specify the floor, other than to say it's "in the 40s" and affords a view of the east (Billy Penn - he can mock the curse now) and south (the office - Citizens Bank Park).
The Falcone Group, the building's developer, announced last winter that Bon Jovi axman Richie Sambora had bought a $3.58 million pad on the 52d floor. Calandrino says that because Sambora has not yet moved in, his place is a sample.
2LP's condos run from the 40th floor to the penthouse on 57.
Around the dial
NBC10 alum Vince DeMentri may have landed as morning anchor at the Providence, R.I., station he left 16 years ago. Joe Abouzeid, the CBS affiliate's news director, said he "couldn't comment at this time," and DeMentri did not return calls or an e-mail. Speculation was first posted yesterday at LauraNachman.net.Angela Russell, who left the afternoon job at CBS3 last month, starts in March as a lead evening anchor at the CBS affiliate in Seattle.
Eagles scheduling issues
The grand opening party of Union Trust steak house (717 Chestnut St.), scheduled for Jan. 31, has been moved to Feb. 7 to avoid any conflict with the Super Bowl. Operating partners Terry White and Ed Doherty fear (hope) that the VIPs, ballers and other glitterati who otherwise would attend will be in Tampa. Public opening is now Feb. 9.Sean Agnew of R5 Productions has rebooked the Punk Rock Flea Market into the Electric Factory for Feb. 1, unless the Eagles are in the Super Bowl. The mart had been booked into the Starlight Ballroom for Dec. 20, but shortly before, the city ordered the venue closed over violations. Agnew says if the Eagles are in the Super Bowl, the "rain date" will be Feb. 8.
Calendar girls
The Philadelphia Wings dance team did a photo shoot for its 2009 calendar, employing as the theme a slumber party in a large mansion. The photos of young women in lingerie were fine, but the lacrosse team's owners decided to scrap the project when they got quotes for design and printing.Which is how the matter sat until November, when the Sixers Dancers were on Danny Bonaduce's WYSP show to promote their own calendar. Bonaduce said his fantasy was "chicks pillow-fighting behind closed doors in their panties."
Zoinks, exclaimed Wings officials. The calendar had to proceed now.
They called Pinsetter Bar & Bowl in Pennsauken - which had sponsored the Sixers calendar - and arranged their own deal.
The Wings calendar will be released Jan. 22 at a party at Pinsetter. Inspired by Bonaduce's comments, designers put dancers Emily Czerniakowski and Stephanie Rose on the cover, in a pillow fight.
