Philadelphia Book Festival

Barbara Walters appears at the Central Branch of the Free Library, 1901 Vine St., at 5 p.m. Sunday as part of the Philadelphia Book Festival. Admission is free but tickets are required for entry. They can be picked up at the Library Clubhouse beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday. Patrons without tickets can watch on the library's Jumbotron. The festival - Saturday and Sunday, inside and outside the Free Library - will include more than 60 writers and dozens of exhibitor tents, live music and children's entertainment.

Among the highlights Saturday are a storybook character parade at noon and appearances by authors, including Marisa de los Santos (Belong to Me) and Ana Castillo (The Guardians) at 3 p.m.; Jennifer Weiner (Certain Girls) at 3; Karen Abbott (Sin in the Second City) at 4; Eric Jerome Dickey (Pleasure) at 4; and Gregory Maguire (Wicked) at 5.

Among the highlights Sunday are appearances by authors Mark Bowden (The Best Game Ever) at 1 p.m.; James McBride (Song Yet Sung) at 3; and Jerry Spinelli (Smiles to Go) at 3:30.
