N.J. man, 25, drowns in a Poconos swimming hole

DINGMANS FERRY, Pa. - A 25-year-old New Jersey man died yesterday while trying to aid another swimmer in a Pocono Mountains stream, authorities said.

The man, whose name was not released, apparently got into trouble before 2 p.m. in Adams Creek in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.

Ten people were swimming in a waterfall pool more than two miles up a trail, National Park Service spokeswoman Deb Nordeen said, when the victim tried to rescue a swimmer from the rain-swollen stream. The body was submerged for an hour and found by a diver in 17-foot-deep water, Nordeen said. - AP
