Man killed by train in N.E. Phila identified

The man struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Northeast Philadelphia Thursday night has been identified as Steven Sumaliki, 25, of the Holmesburg section of the city.

The man struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Northeast Philadelphia Thursday night has been identified as Steven Sumaliki, 25, of the Holmesburg section of the city.

Sumaliki died of multiple blunt force injuries, said Jeff Moran, spokesman for the Medical Examiner's Office. His death is being treated as a suicide. Sumaliki drew the attention of Amtrak police at the Holmesburg Junction SEPTA station earlier in the day. Philadelphia police said Amtrak police told them they thought he was intoxicated and drove him home.
