Police yesterday identified a man killed in an ambush early Monday in the city's Wissinoming section as Andrew Bagwell, 22, of West Philadelphia.

Bagwell was shot and fatally wounded about 6 a.m. after he left a home on the 6000 block of Keystone Street. As he got into the driver's seat of his Ford minivan, a gunman walked up and fired several shots, striking Bagwell in the stomach and legs, police said.

A friend of Bagwell's, who told police he had been sleeping in the minivan's backseat, said he was awakened by the blasts but did not see the gunman. The friend drove Bagwell to St. Christopher's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
