Police shut down N. Phila. marijuana farm

Philadelphia police yesterday shut down what they described as an elaborate marijuana farm in a North Philadelphia rowhouse.

Officers responded to a 911 call reporting "a strong odor of weed" on the 3000 block of North Seventh Street and found the front windows of the dwelling "completely masked and the strong scent of marijuana," said Capt. Debra Frazier of the narcotics unit.

Inside, police discovered a .38 caliber handgun and 600 plants, "from seedlings to plants well over six feet tall," Frazier said. "There was no furniture, no sources of entertainment, nothing but marijuana plants" growing hydroponically under large lights. Frazier estimated the seized marijuana had a street value of $5 million. Police have made no arrests, she said, but have identified a person of interest. - Sam Wood

It's not difficult to find the owner of the house as BRT lists it for the public. The drug dealers who went in and out to feed the growing plants can't be identified by neighbors? Something is rotten on Seventh St. The idiot who was growing the weed must be really dumb to think the neighbors wouldn't smell it. Give the drug dealer 20 years for the weed and the gun!
