Four more jurors picked for trial in Cassidy killing
Four more jurors were selected yesterday for the trial of John "Jordan" Lewis, charged with killing Police Officer Chuck Cassidy on Oct. 31, 2007.
Prosecution and defense lawyers and Common Pleas Court Judge Jeffrey P. Minehart now have seven of the 12 jurors needed for the start of testimony in the death-penalty case. The lawyers will be back in court today to try to complete the jury and several alternates for what is expected to be a three-week trial.
Lewis, 23, of North Philadelphia, is charged with murder and six armed robberies. The last of those, at the Dunkin' Donuts store on Broad Street near 66th Avenue, was interrupted by Cassidy, who was then shot in the head. - Joseph A. Slobodzian
