Rendell continues to work on SEPTA talks
The parties broke about 5:40 p.m. and resumed talks later in the evening in Rendell's regional office on the 11th floor of the Park Hyatt at the Bellevue. Mayor Nutter and U.S. Rep. Bob Brady (D., Pa.) also have participated in the talks.
SEPTA and Transit Workers Union Local 234 on Saturday reached a tentative agreement on health care and have since been reportedly close on wages. "Nobody wants to leave something on the table," Brady said during yesterday evening's break.
Rendell intervened to make sure there was no strike during the World Series, which would have caused major transportation disruptions and embarrassed the city during a national event. - Robert Moran
