Police are searching for a man who they say may be responsible for robbing three Rite Aid stores at gunpoint this summer, most recently on Thursday.

The man is white, 35 to 40 years old, stands about 5-foot-11 and appears to weigh about 300 pounds, police said.

Thursday, the man was captured on surveillance cameras entering a Rite Aid on the 7900 block of Castor Avenue, in the Rhawnhurst section of the city, shortly before 8:30 a.m. The man approached an employee, pointed a small handgun at her, and told her to take him to the office and open the safe. He then ordered the employee into a bathroom and left through a rear door, taking about $1,300 with him.

Police suspect the same man may have robbed a Rite Aid on Snyder Avenue on July 20, as well as one on the 8400 block of Frankford Avenue on July 12. Anyone with information is being asked to call police at 215-686-3153 or -3154. - Allison Steele
