Spill leads to building evacuation at St. Joe's

A chemical spill prompted authorities to evacuate a science building at St. Joseph's University yesterday while a hazardous-materials team and the Philadelphia Fire Department responded to the scene.

No serious injuries were reported, but one St. Joseph's employee was taken to Lankenau Hospital for observation and listed in good condition yesterday afternoon. The employee, whom officials did not identify, was believed to have sustained a small amount of benzene splashed on the employee's shoes and pants. - AP
