Body of drowned boy found in the Delaware
Philadelphia marine police yesterday recovered the body of an 11-year-old North Philadelphia boy who drowned in the Delaware River Friday night while on a family boating trip.
The body of the boy, whom police identified as Raniel Molina, was found about 3 p.m. yesterday, Police Lt. Frank Vanore said. A day earlier, police had recovered the body of Hector Rosa, 43, who dived into the river to save his nephew.
Rosa, the boy, and a third person were aboard a 16-foot recreational boat Friday evening when the boy fell into the river near the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge, authorities said.
The third person, who was driving the boat and has not been identified, was unable to save them, authorities said.
The boy fell into swift currents in the vicinity of a boat ramp near the Frankford Arsenal, Police Officer Anthony Kowalski said.
Rosa's body was recovered Saturday near the bridge. Crews from the Coast Guard, the Philadelphia marine police, and the New Jersey State Police searched nine hours Saturday before they suspended operations that afternoon and resumed yesterday morning.
