Boy still serious six days after being found in pool
A 10-year-old Spring City boy remained in serious condition yesterday at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, six days after he was found facedown in a swimming pool at the Spring Valley YMCA in Montgomery County, police said.
Limerick Township Police Chief William Albany said the boy, who was flown to the hospital after lifeguards spotted him lying unconscious on the surface of the pool, suffered lung damage.
The boy had been in the deep end of the pool, where the water is 41/2 feet deep, Albany said. After lifeguards pulled the boy from the water and administered CPR, emergency crews resuscitated him and flew him to the hospital, Albany said. Authorities did not release the boy's name. - Max Stendahl
