Exam ordered for mother of boy in school plot

The mother of a boy who planned an attack on a suburban high school will undergo a court-ordered competency exam.

Michele Cossey of Plymouth Township is charged with buying her son several weapons for his arsenal, including a handgun, rifle and laser scope. Defense attorney Tim Woodward wants the mental-health evaluation to see if the 46-year-old woman is competent to defend herself.

Her son, Dillon, could remain in juvenile custody until his 21st birthday after admitting last year that he planned to attack Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School.

His sentencing judge blamed much of the boy's problems on Michele Cossey. The judge said she had fostered a "me and Mom against the world" attitude. - AP
