Police probe overnight killings, identify park victim

Homicide detectives are investigating two deaths in South and Southwest Philadelphia. Patrol officers were dispatched Tuesday night at 10:45 to Frazier and Hadfield Streets in Southwest Philadelphia, where they found a 21-year-old man who had been shot once in the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

An unidentified man was found dead shortly after 5 a.m. on the 2600 block of Dickinson Street in South Philadelphia. The man, believed to be in his early 40s, appeared to have died of head trauma. Investigators have called his death suspicious, a police spokesman said.

Also, detectives yesterday identified Gary James Jr., of South Philadelphia, as the man shot dead early Tuesday in Fairmount Park. - Sam Wood
