The party announced earlier in the week that the Philadelphia-based hip-hop band the Roots would perform at the event, which is to begin at 4 p.m. in the park at 60 E. Haines St., next to Fulton School.
The Obama-Biden visit comes a little more than three weeks before the Nov. 2 midterm elections in which the Democrats' control of Congress is at stake.
In Pennsylvania, Democratic Senate nominee Joe Sestak and gubernatorial candidate Dan Onorato have been trailing in the polls, and a high voter turnout in Philadelphia is crucial to the party's statewide chances.
Obama has begun holding a series of "Moving America Forward" rallies in key states, aimed at firing up the first-time "surge" voters who showed up to the polls to support him in 2008, as well as the party's traditional base.
Sunday's Philadelphia rally is open to the public, and tickets are not required, though the Democrats hope those interested in attending will RSVP online at http://pa.barackobama.com/PhillyMAF
