Gang member charged in Trenton killing
Tarik Mackins, 29, was arrested Wednesday night, a little more than nine months after allegedly ambushing Madison while the victim sat in a parked car in front of Fisher's Seafood, authorities said yesterday.
The Burlington County Prosecutor's Office identified both men as Bloods gang members. The two also have criminal records: Mackins was incarcerated for drug possession and robbery; Madison served time in prison on assault and drug charges.
Madison was sitting in the driver's seat of a white Lexus when Mackins approached on the passenger side wielding a .357 Magnum handgun and fired five shots through the open window, authorities said.
Madison, 28, died four days later, on Sept. 26.
Authorities said Madison was killed because he was believed to have threatened an associate of Mackins. Both men reputedly associated with the local Muslims Over Everything gang.
Mackins was held at the Burlington County Jail yesterday with bail set at $1 million.
