Driver won't be charged in fatal Burlco crash

A man involved in a Route 70 crash that killed an Evesham teacher April 8 will not be charged with vehicular homicide, a Burlington County grand jury decided Tuesday.

Burlington County Prosecutor Robert Bernardi said there was not sufficient evidence to indict Jose Luis Galindo-Sanchez, 26, on the charge. Galindo-Sanchez's brother, Lucio, 19, was not indicted on several charges.

The Camden men, illegal immigrants from Mexico, broadsided the car driven by Amy Voorhees, 27, of Evesham, around 7 a.m. She died at the scene. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement placed detainers on both brothers, who were held yesterday in the Burlington County jail. Bernardi said ICE may decide to proceed with deportation. - Megan DeMarco
