Police in seven departments to crack down on aggressive driving

Seven Chester County police departments that have a documented problem with aggressive drivers will be increasing their ticketing of behaviors such as running red lights, speeding, and tailgating, according to District Attorney Thomas Hogan.

The departments - Coatesville, Kennett Township, Tredyffrin Township, West Chester, West Goshen, West Whiteland, and Westtown-East Goshen - each created a detailed plan that includes adding police presence in areas where crashes occur most often, Hogan said.

The effort is part of the Pennsylvania Aggressive Driving Enforcement and Education Project, an initiative that uses crash data to identify problem areas and addresses them with public awareness and extra enforcement.

"Police will be looking for anyone who is speeding, tailgating, or exhibiting any type of aggressive driving," Sgt. Justin DiMedio of the West Goshen Police Department said in a statement. "Officers will be stopping and citing motorists for this type of driving behavior." - Tricia L. Nadolny
