Magnolia woman injured in 8-vehicle I-295 crash
A Magnolia woman was pinned in her car between two trucks in a eight-vehicle collision near Haddon Heights that closed I-295 for several hours yesterday morning.
Kea Williams, 33, was taken to Cooper University Hospital in Camden with serious injuries below her waist. Southbound I-295 was blocked between Exits 27 and 28 from about 8 until 10:15 a.m. One truck driver, Jim Sharkey, 53, of Little Egg Harbor, N.J., suffered neck and back pain. He also was transported to Cooper.
State police said a tractor-trailer failed to brake for traffic that had slowed in a construction zone. Its driver, Octavio Villegas, 46, of Jersey City, N.J., was not injured. He will receive a traffic summons for careless driving. Other charges may be filed pending an investigation and inspection of the truck by state police. - Sam Wood
