Sex charge for Burlco teacher
Bordentown Regional High School's former band director has been suspended from his teaching post after being charged with sexually assaulting a student over eight months.
The Burlington County Prosecutor's Office on Tuesday charged Francisco J. Planas-Borgstrom, 32, of Bordentown, with a second-degree count of sexual assault related to alleged encounters between September 2008 and April.
Authorities did not release the name, age, or sex of the alleged victim.
At his initial appearance, bail for Planas-Borgstrom was set at $75,000, Assistant County Prosecutor Ray Milavsky said. The school district has suspended him pending the outcome of the charge.
Planas-Borgstrom has been a teacher for at least a decade and directed the marching band at Bordentown Regional for at least seven years, according to his autobiography on the district Web site.
His classes at the high school included advanced concert band, jazz ensemble, and music theory. Planas-Borgstrom was replaced as marching-band director in August, according to district documents.
If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in state prison, Milavsky said.
