Black Horse Pike crash kills Egg Harbor Twp. man
An Egg Harbor Township, N.J., man was killed Tuesday when his car spun out of control and slammed into two trees after he swerved to avoid a Honda Civic that suddenly appeared in his path on Black Horse Pike in Monroe Township, police said yesterday.
The driver of the Civic could face motor-vehicle charges after an investigation, police said.
Police said Joshua A. Goetz, 30, was driving his 2006 Scion TC east on the pike (Route 322) about 5:20 p.m. when Louis A. Gatti II, 30, of Williamstown, entered the highway in his 2000 Civic from Karen Drive, intending to turn left. Goetz swerved left, then pulled a hard right to avoid the westbound lanes of the pike, police said. His car spun for about 200 feet and crossed the two eastbound lanes before hitting one tree and then another. Goetz, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:38 p.m., police said. - Inquirer staff
