Road work set for Schuylkill Expressway
Overnight lane closures on the Schuylkill Expressway in Philadelphia and road restrictions in Chester and Delaware Counties are scheduled for this week, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
From 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. tonight through Friday, the westbound right lane of the expressway (I-76) will be closed between South Street and the Vine Street Expressway (I-676) from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. so crews can power-wash the underside of the Schuylkill Avenue bridge, according to PennDot.
Tonight and tomorrow from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., eastbound traffic on the expressway will be reduced to one lane at University Avenue/Grays Ferry Avenue (Exit 346B) for replacement of light poles on the bridge carrying the expressway over the Schuylkill, CSX railroad tracks, Grays Ferry Avenue, and 34th Street.
On Wednesday and Thursday, westbound traffic at the same exit will be reduced to one lane from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. as crews work on poles on the other side of the bridge.
In addition, traffic restrictions are set for today through Friday at several sites in Chester and Delaware Counties for installation of reflective pavement markers on sections of Routes 3, 10, 30, 82, 100, 113, 162, 322, 340, 401, 472, 796, and 926 in Chester County.
Traffic signals will be replaced at three locations in Springfield and Upper Darby Townships in Delaware County and one site in Westtown Township in Chester County.
