Fireworks accident kills man in Bucks

An accident during the grand finale of a July Fourth fireworks show in Quakertown has left one man dead and authorities investigating what went wrong.

One of the displays misfired, sending debris into the neck and chest of a 19-year-old Pulaski, Pa., man who worked for the fireworks company that staged the show.

Firefighters administered first aid, but the man, whose identity has not been disclosed pending family confirmation, was taken to St. Luke's Hospital-Quakertown, where he was pronounced dead.

The show was stopped immediately around 9:45 p.m., Police Chief Scott McElree said, and part of the park was evacuated. About 10,000 people attended the event. County and state police fire marshals are investigating the accident.
