Rescuers fish 15 scouts from the Brandywine
Firefighters pulled 15 members of a Boy Scout troop from the banks of the swollen Brandywine River in Chadds Ford yesterday.
Five days after two brothers drowned in the river's rain-roiled waters a few miles up the river, the Boy Scout troop from Boothwyn became trapped about 1 p.m. by overhanging trees, with the river at high levels because of recent rains.
Members of the Concordville Fire Department, Longwood Fire Company, and Kennett Square Fire Company found 15 scouts and leaders in the river and on the banks, according to a news release from the Concordville Fire and Protective Association.
They launched two boats and pulled one person from the river just south of the Brandywine River Museum.
Two were taken to Crozer-Chester Medical Center with "what appeared to be minor injuries," according to the news release.
