The Alpha Company humvee destroyed on Smugglers Road. Four guardsmen were killed and the driver, Sgt. Dan South, was thrown from the vehicle. “I remember driving down Smugglers Road,” South said. “The next thing I remember was coming to. I didn’t know where I was.”
