Airborne chemicals from volunteer Neil Gallagher's back are collected by glass funnels containing absorbent fibers for research on healthy skin at the Monell Chemical Senses Center. Scientists later compared the findings to samples from cancerous skin to create an "odor profile" of basal cell carcinoma.
